Past event 13 Feb 2019 Eskilstuna

Information

Wed, 13 Feb 2019, 17:30-20:00, Eskilstuna View Address

To follow up on the success of the first ever tech meetup in Eskilstuna we are launching meetup no2! This time we’ll look into CI/CD Pipelines.

Our presenter Christer Blomqvist from Volvo CE started out as a developer in 1999 and has since then also worked with infrastructure automation and continuous delivery. He got introduced to GoCD in 2016 at the Swedish Pension Agency where it co-exists in prosperity with Jenkins.

TALK: Pipelines have been around in CI tools for a long time now and many have already used them in Jenkins. They work well in Jenkins so is there really a need for yet another tool for them? GoCD isn’t actually a new tool. It’s been around since 2007 under the name “Cruise” and, unlike Jenkins, pipelines are at the core of its design from the start. It was however not released as Open Source until 2014, which probably accounts for its anonymity. https://www.gocd.org/ This presentation will be an introduction to the core concepts of GoCD and a demonstration of its features and of how it can look like in a production system. Christer will also talk about how it has been integrated with JIRA at the Swedish Pension Agency.

For future Meetups, if you have something interesting around your work with DevOps & Continuous Delivery, please let us know and we’ll do our best to get you to present! It could be war stories, something you’re proud of or maybe even something you’re not so proud of.

We are looking forward to seeing you in this second meetup for the Eskilstuna DevOps community!
